2016 Château Gloria, St-Julien

The Gloria 2016 is a demonstrative, impressive wine with brooding intensity of dark cherry fruit, graphite and cocoa nibs. There is a real sense of confidence and energy to the wine, which is felt through the fine-textured, ripe and supple tannins, the bright line of acidity and the crescendo of fruit and spices on the palate. This has a muscular feel and needs an hour in the decanter at the moment before drinking but opens into such a splendid wine.

Critic Scores

16.5/20 – Jancis Robinson MW, jancisrobinson.com

Sweet and energetic and very glossy. Just a little austere on the end. Bone dry. Quite demanding. Just not quite enough ripe fruit for the not inconsiderable tannins.

93-94/100 – James Suckling, jamessuckling.com

04/04/2017
Dense and layered red with berry and tobacco character, a full body and a savory finish. Got it all here.
