2020 Beaune 1er Cru Tuvilains, Domaine Tawse

Tuvilains is a lovely vineyard on the Pommard side of the town. Scented with rhubarb and raspberries, with a lot of structure on the palate. There is 30% whole bunch here, and some support from 20% new oak. More peppery and full bodied than the previous vintage. You can feel the heat of the summer a little in the fruit profile, although the fresh acidity keeps the structure cool.

Critic Scores

87-89/100 – Neal Martin, vinous.com

The 2020 Beaune Tuvilains 1er Cru is 50% whole bunch this year. It has a pure and perfumed bouquet with rose petal infused red cherry fruit that just needs a little more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, stocky and a bit brutish. Pascale Marchand mentioned that he would have liked to pick this a couple of days earlier and maybe that would have been better
