The 2012 is a benchmark wine from this vintage. An equal blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Grand Cru vineyards, it has seen 8 years of ageing on the lees before disgorgement. There is an almost Burgundian like complexity here. The nose offers notes of lemon butter biscuit with a little flintiness with hints of lemon blossom and orchard fruit. There is some ginger spice, pear, grapefruit and wet stone minerality that runs through the palate. The mousse is soft and creamy with a fine bean of acidity. Altogether a charming vintage wine from Laurent Perrier.
