Product Description
La Rioja Alta is a real favourite of the team here at Lay & Wheeler, and with wines like the 890, it’s very easy to see why. This is the first time that La Rioja Alta has applied the terms Seleccion Especial to one of their Gran Reservas – so demonstrates the esteem with which they hold what they deem to be their greatest ever wine. At 13 years old, this is still a real baby, but one with real attitude! On the nose, classic Rioja, with notes of leather, forest floor, clove and nutmeg squeezing through the initial fruitiness. The palate is big and bold; in spite of the nose the fruit still comes as a shock. Whilst it would already provide great enjoyment, this is a wine built for the long haul. A wine to grab hold of now, while you have the chance!
