2020 Hun Tokaji Furmint, István Szepsy, Tokaj
Attractive white blossom, white peach and citrus atoms with subtle hints of ginger spice. The palate is linear with a salty and chalky profile that is refreshing and delivers a pristine quality that is reminiscent of great examples of Chablis. There is a restrained concentration and wonderful grapefruit pith phenolic on the finish.

The smell of burnt grapefruit peel and candle wax heralds a wine almost Riesling-like in its austerity and smoke. Rigid but broad, not lean; structural power holding the stone fruit back behind a portcullis. Stones and statement. Like smelling the sun on rocks. An almost severely dry Furmint but it has compelling substance. I'd wait another year, and it definitely is a wine that should be drunk with food.
