There is a concentration of bramble and red plum fruits, yet there are hidden layers of savoury and sweet spice as well as nuances of black olive and leather. The tannins are pronounced but are ripe well balanced against the concentrated core. The acidity is bright and this wine really does highlight why dry reds from the Douro are starting to be taken a lot more seriously.
