Douro Red Wine
The Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to a series of dramatic, steeply terraced vineyards and centuries-old winemaking tradition. Set along the Douro River some 60 miles east of Porto, it is primarily known for its rich, ageworthy Ports. However, it’s also a source of exceptional dry reds whose style reflects the region’s schist soils and native grape varieties – Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and others – offering dark-fruited intensity and structure allied, in the finest examples, to elegance and freshness.
