Dubbed the “Lafte of the Languedoc”, this modern great was established by Aimé Guilbert on the advice of two friends, who happened to be two of France’s leading oenologists. They had spotted the potential of his farmland, and the estate has never looked back. When one of them, Emile Peynaud, who was more used to consulting at estates like Château Margaux was asked why he spent so much time there, he replied that he had “never before been lucky enough to be present at the birth of a Grand Cru.” Aimé’s children now run the estate, which continues to go from strength to strength
