Villa Saleta
Villa Saletta is located in the unspoilt hilly countryside of Palaia, in the province of Pisa. The heritage of the estate spans centuries, having been owned by just four families throughout its long history. However, by the time the English Hands family took ownership almost 20 years ago, the estate had almost entirely fallen to ruin. They saw the potential and set about restoring this beautiful and agriculturally diverse estate, using traditional Tuscan techniques blended with modern technology.
Today, the estate covers more than 1,400 hectares of woodland, olive groves, vineyards and crops. Winemaking was the first focus of the restoration, and huge investment has been poured into renovating old vines and planting new plots according to a detailed understanding of the terroir. Agronomist and oenologist David Landini, places great emphasis on supporting biodiversity across the estate, recognising the positive impact of biodiversity on viticulture. He carefully crafts these award-winning wines which charmingly reflect the Tuscan terroir, as well as producing oil and cultivating herbs, fruit and vegetables.
