Bordeaux Wine Producers
The grand châteaux of Bordeaux’s Left Bank stand as giants of the wine world, immortalised by the 1855 classification which set their status in stone. From the first growths of Châteaux Lafite and Latour to the fifth growths of Châteaux Lynch-Bages and Pontet-Canet, these are legendary names which continue to resonate today. And while the properties on the Right Bank might not generally be quite so imposing from an architectural perspective, the likes of St-Emilion’s Châteaux Ausone, Figeac and Cheval Blanc, and Pomerol’s Pétrus, Lafleur and L’Evangile are no less renowned. Beyond the headliners, there are countless smaller, less celebrated properties producing great-value wines in all styles and all levels, from Bordeaux’s famous red blend to dry and sweet whites. Look for cru bourgeois such as Châteaux Le Boscq and Labégorce, up-and-coming names such as Les Carmes Haut-Brion and under-rated producers such as Roc de Cambes.
