Bordeaux - Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon rules on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, where free-draining gravel soils, a moderate Maritime climate and closeness to the Gironde Estuary are perfect for growing this highly tannic and deeply flavoured grape. In fact, this storied region is known for producing some of the finest and most sought-after wines in the world, with a host of prestigious vineyards calling the Left Bank of Bordeaux its home. Expect flavours of rich black fruits, a cedary or tobacco-tinged quality and bold tannins. These complex wines are incredibly ageworthy, developing savoury, leather and dried fruit notes with time. You’ll also find the grape on the other side of the river, where it is secondary to Merlot in the famous Bordeaux blend.
