Burgundy - Pinot Noir
Haunting and ethereal, great Burgundian Pinot Noir is considered one of the treasures of the wine world. Lightly coloured and low in tannin, this sensitive grape is right at home in the cool wine region of Burgundy, though it still needs careful managing to ensure its mouth-watering red fruits and magical mushroomy and forest-floor perfume (in older wines at least) aren’t lost, or that the wines don’t become too astringent. A few years in bottle can add lots of complexity, with aromas of leather or game, truffle and smoky notes.
