Burgundy Wine Producers
Wine producers in Burgundy fall into one of two groups – negociants or domaines. Negociants, such as Albert Bichot, Louis Jadot and Olivier Leflaive, tend to be larger enterprises who buy their grapes from smaller growers, and make a range of blended wines from multiple sites (including, it should be said, some of the region’s most reputed grands crus). Domaines make wines from their own vineyards, and as a result, are often smaller producers, often making several different wines, some of them in miniscule quantities. The likes of Coche-Dury, Méo-Camuzet and Ramonet are just three standout examples of Burgundy’s domaines, which between them encompass some of the most vaunted names in all of wine.
