Loire Vintages
The range of grape varieties, soils and wine styles made across the Loire Valley makes generalising about the quality of vintages far from straightforward. Like Burgundy, it is often prudent to consider the white wines separately to the reds. That said, a warm year like 2022, which was refreshed by light late-summer rain, was benevolent to all styles of wines, while a similarly fine summer in 2020 also marks the year out as one to follow. And 2018 was particularly warm, leading to more concentrated reds and tropically-fruited whites.
